Monday Funday: It's a Grapefruit Flamingo!!

grapefruit flamingo, blackberry beak, Rosemary legsI love grapefruit, but it can be frustrating to get nice, juicy segments out of all the sour pith. A few years ago, I came across a way to cut those segments out of a grapefruit leaving all pith behind! Then you can use the segments for a beautiful green salad, a fruit salad, food play or just gobble them up by themselves! After you're done cutting the segments out, kids can have fun squeezing the juice out of the pith that's left. It's a great way to get another food exploration activity (and a bit of delicious fresh-squeezed juice) out of a part of the fruit that was going into the compost anyway.Enjoy and happy food play!
